- Tridacna \Tri*dac"na\, n. [L., pl., a kind of oysters, fr. Gr. ? eaten at three bites, ? tri- + ? to bite.] (Zool.) A genus of very large marine bivalve shells found on the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
