  • Trichomanes \Tri*chom"a*nes\, n. [L., a kind of plant, from Gr. ?.] (Bot.) Any fern of the genus Trichomanes. The fronds are very delicate and often translucent, and the sporangia are borne on threadlike receptacles rising from the middle of cup-shaped marginal involucres. Several species are common in conservatories; two are native in the United States. [1913 Webster]
