  • Macaque \Ma`caque"\, n. [F. See Macacus.] (Zool.) Any one of several species of short-tailed monkeys of the genus Macaca (formerly Macacus), found in rocky regions of Asia and Africa; as, Macaca maurus, the moor macaque of the East Indies.
