OHG. krebiz crab, G. krebs. See Crab. The ending -fish arose from confusion with E. fish.] (Zool.) Any decapod crustacean of the family Astacid[ae] (genera Cambarus and Cambarus), resembling the lobster, but smaller, and found in fresh waters.
